Entry Requirements

  • SPM / GCE ‘O’ Level with minimum of 5 credits, including credit in English language, or equivalent qualification (e.g. IELTS Band 6.5/ TOEFL 600)
  • Minimum 21 years of age

Duration

  • Full-time: 10 weeks (20 hours/week)
  • Part-time: 28 weeks (7 hours/week)

Brief Profile of Our Trainers

  • DR NG KWEI KUEN
    Dr Ng was an associate professor in the English Language Department of the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics at University of Malaya. She has taught for many years, both in specialist courses within the Faculty and also in other ESP courses throughout the university. Her vast experience included conducting ESL Diploma teacher-training courses, post-graduate courses in Applied Linguistics, and Problem-based Learning workshops.

    Dr. Ng is an experienced thesis supervisor of post-graduate studies. Her principal research interest addresses language teachers’ perceptions of their role in authentic subject teaching and learning.

  • EMEL DERELI
    Miss Emel (BA Political Science, Hawaii Pacific University, CELTA University of Cambridge, ATCL TESOL Trinity College London) has been living in Malaysia since 1992; upon graduating from Hawaii Pacific University, she came to Malaysia and has been in the ESL field ever since. Among other places, Miss Emel has worked at ELS Language Centres, Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya. She was a senior instructor at ELS, and her duties included developing corporate training programmes, teaching TOEFL and IELTS courses in addition to training new teachers. Ms Emel also presented a paper at MICELT 2004 (Teaching Grammar to EFL/ESL Learners Effectively Through Various Techniques and Student-Centred Activities). She was also promoted to Assistant Academic Director at ELS Subang Jaya.

    Miss Emel has a vast knowledge in ESL teaching using widely accepted and recommended techniques.

  • ANGELINA LAM
    Miss Angelina Lam is certified by Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad to do SLGII – Train the Trainers for English Language (EL). She has substantial experience of being a teacher trainer and an intensive English language facilitator in various large organizations like ELS International Language Centres and Cambridge English for Life for many years. She has conducted trainings, given presentations and taught both language and ESP courses across Malaysia for other corporations as well. In addition, she develops materials for language teaching and trainings.

    Miss Angelina Lam mainly focuses on the communicative aspect of teaching in language learning. She is particularly interested in a teacher’s approach towards classroom communication.
