BSc (Hons) Software Engineering (3+0)
KP/JPS(A9959)2/15
Malaysia has fully embraced Information Communications Technology (ICT) as the enabling technology to propel it into a developed nation. This is evident with the setting up of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) and other related initiatives undertaken by the government and the private sector. Thus, there is increasing demand from industry, especially within the MSC, for suitably qualified software engineers.
Software engineers have been identified as one of the most sought-after people to fill this need. This software engineering programme seeks to meet that need by producing graduates with a good combination of skills required to design and develop robust, efficient, and quality computing and integrated systems.
The BSc (Hons) Software Engineering is a 3-year degree programme conducted entirely at KBU in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University (NTU), UK. It is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and has also received the prestigious MSC-Status.
The first year of the software engineering course provides a broad base of fundamental skills in the use of computers in relation to business and industry. The modules focus on the fundamentals of programming along with computer technology and information system. The second year takes students into further study of design and programming methods, information and system organisation. In the final year, more specialised topics are covered and these include Distributed Object Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Multimedia Systems.
